Sometimes one’s spiritual nature is like a rushing river and sometimes it is an underground stream. When the latter is extant then the Visible Origami side of things seems to suffer accordingly as I’m more concerned with getting my life in balance than I am with actually being balanced and having something to say as a result. It’s been a smooth and successful day so I’ll take a chance and see if I have anything to say.

Our Karma and this Difficult World.
Spiritual Survival in a Temporal World, Chapter 14
After the last six weeks, I have had more than enough opportunities to practice Spiritual Survival. The conditions I went through actually began a few months earlier and relentlessly escalated. These conditions were amplified by some of the worst weather in half a century in the location where I’ve been living. This shouldn’t surprise anyone because this kind of weather has been happening all over the globe.
Too Fat to Fly and too Selfish to Try.
Someone got on my case a few weeks ago for what he perceived as unnecessarily dumping on fat people. Well, he’s a cranky sort to begin with and often goes off the handle for reasons known only to himself. However… to be fair to me and… that’s just as important as my being fair to you, I’ve got no beef with fat people… heh heh… that doesn’t sound right. Let me rephrase that, I’m not prejudiced against anyone or anything except for ignorance and gross materialism which both operate together. I’ve also got something against unbridled greed and psychopathic behavior toward the masses. You could probably throw in a few other things like genocide and various criminal behavior but that should go without saying.

Secret State Police Report: Ron Paul, Bob Barr, Chuck Baldwin, Libertarians are Terrorists
Alex Jones has received a secret report distributed by the Missouri Information Analysis Center (MIAC) entitled “The Modern Militia Movement” and dated February 20, 2009. A footer on the document indicates it is “unclassified” but “law enforcement sensitive,” in other words not for public consumption. A copy of the report was sent to Jones by an anonymous Missouri police officer.
ashes, ashes, we all fall down
Somewhere, surfing the web, I've come across the Humpty Dumpty metaphor lately, more than a few times, maybe on Mirrors, but I can't look it up just now, besides, its always been that where one person leaves off, I continue, mostly unintentionally until no one knows where something starts and where it ends, we just keep moving along, a herd in progress across the barren plain. The herders with their whips and dogs like us to do that. ....
Our Pigs, Our Food, Our Health
Hat-tip: CryptogonThe late Tom Anderson, the family doctor in this little farm town in northwestern Indiana, at first was puzzled, then frightened.
He began seeing strange rashes on his patients, starting more than a year ago. They began as innocuous bumps — “pimples from hell,” he called them — and quickly became lesions as big as saucers, fiery red and agonizing to touch.

Hunger
The chipmunk chittered something at him. Despite the violent pangs of hunger clenching in his belly, Randy tried to suppress thoughts of eating the little critter. It wasn't that he had a thing against eating meat - though he liked to think he practiced more consciousness regarding the flesh of other sentient beings than some might - it was simply that he had no confidence in his ability to catch the animal even if he made the attempt. He wasn't much of a hunter to start with, and the chipmunk's quick, nervous motion bespoke an instinctive caution so deeply ingrained it regarded every animal as a potential predator. It had taken ages for the critter to approach, during which period Randy hadn't moved a muscle nor even dared think a hostile thought, not wishing to startle it away. He was just glad to have company, any company.Okay so that's tamer than it's been until recently. But does it always have to be intense? Well, it picks up, I promise.
Money and the Turning of the Age
As the economic meltdown proceeds to its next phase, we begin to see the unreality of much that we thought real. The verities of two generations become uncertain, and despite a lingering hope that a return to normalcy is just around the corner -- in "the third quarter of 2009" or "by the middle of 2010" -- the realization is dawning that normal isn't coming back.

"The Money Has Gotten Scarce ... but the Truth Is Getting Fierce"
The 1975 lyrics of Murray Head from Say it ain't so Joe seem appropriate for this stage in the Obama presidency:-
they told us that our hero has played his trump card
he doesn't know how to go on
we're clinging to his charms and determined smile
but the good old days have gone
the image and the empire may be falling apart
the money has gotten scarce
one man's word held the country together
but the truth is getting fierce

Canadian Military Units To Undertake "Domestic Security"
The Canadian military is reorganizing its priorities to suit a "post 9/11-world," by creating reservist units for each area of the country that would be tasked with providing "domestic security," and involve roles such as the mass internment of citizens in the event of a terrorist attack.

The Good Food Revolution
The island of Kaua‘i is one of the most beautiful and fragile places on earth. From above, it looks like a vibrant green flower, lush and pulsing with life, floating in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The Hawaiian tourist industry calls it “The Garden Isle,” comparing it to the Garden of Eden. The image of Hawai‘i has always been sold as a “paradise.” But there is another side to life on this island, one that visitors rarely see.

Ex-bookkeeper is charged with embezzling $9.9 million from her company
Vista, Calif. - A former bookkeeper embezzled $9.9 million, forcing her company to make layoffs as she bought 400 pairs of shoes that she kept in a room-sized closet decorated with a crystal chandelier and a plasma television, authorities claim.
Change We Can Believe In: How About the End of Farmers Markets? Say Hello to H.R. 875: Food Safety Modernization Act of 2009
What this will do is force anyone who produces food of any kind, and then transports it to a different location for sale, to register with a new federal agency called the “Food Safety Administration.” Even growers who only sell only fruit and/or vegetables at farmers markets would not only have to register, but they would be subject inspections by federal agents of their property and all records related to food production. The frequency of these inspections will be determined by the whim of the Food Safety Administration. Mandatory “safety” records would have to be kept. Anyone who fails to register and comply with all of this nonsense could be facing a fine of up to $1,000,000 per violation.
Apocalypse ... Revealing ... Disclosing and Unveiling
Hardly a day goes by when I don’t reflect on the definition of Apocalypse. Once again, here it is… “uncover, reveal, disclose, unveil” and there are others as well but not applicable to my purpose and in some cases there is also the implication of concealment and covering. Revelation is also an interesting word and shares quite a few of the definitions of Apocalypse. Then there’s whether you look at it as ‘The’ Apocalypse with the four horsemen and all the attendant special effects or, ‘the’ Revelations from the New Testament. I’m supposing any number of people can spend their whole life studying these things and still not know much about them in the end. Well now… you know what? Now that I think about it, I am sure that is the case more often than not.

Jesus, Marx, and Spiritual Economics
“Who are you guys?” I asked, and the man handed me a brochure explaining that they were The Twelve Tribes.”
“We have communities across the globe,” he said. “We think Karl Marx had it right, except he forgot about spirit. Our communities work together for a common goal. We resemble the early Christian church, before it got greedy with money and power.”
The two of them introduced themselves. They had taken on unpronounceable Hebrew names that I unsuccessfully tried to remember.
“We live on a farm in Vermont,” the woman explained. “There’s a whole community of us trying to grow organic food and live sustainably."
“What’s a typical day like for you up there?” I asked, as I’d been dreaming of living in an intentional community for several years.
“We get up each morning and have a prayer with our breakfast and then we dance,” he said. “We work hard on the farm, but it’s also fun. At night, there’s dinner and more dancing. Sometimes we have skits, music or performances, or just talk about how we’re feeling or questions we might have."
Smart Grid: Government spying targets Rural America
I’ve been reading the stimulus bill. When I saw the term Smart Grid on page 232 of the “American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009,” I stopped reading so fast I almost gave myself whiplash. If you haven’t heard about Smart Grid, listen up. Smart Grid is closely related to the National Animal Identification System (NAIS), and both programs are designed to spy on Americans.
The A-word
At Salon:
Any serious scribe will tell you that writing is, at its heart, the maddening struggle to find exactly the right words. Should the overcast sky be called "gray," or "beige"? Is Rush Limbaugh best described as "an enraged Jabba the Hut," or "a deranged Stay Puft Marshmallow Man"? Are we living through a "recession" or a "depression"?

This Is What A Collapse Looks Like
Hat-tip What Really Happened.
Credo Mutwa on Barack Obama
An actor walks upon the floodlit stage of life
wearing a mask of an angel beneath a demon's gown.
Pretence smiles upon the crowded hall of life
holding out hope as bright as it is false.
Son of a woman in whose veins flows the blood
of ancient Ireland and dark Africa’s plains.
You are Obama, nick-named the standing king
You are Barack, oh, son born to deceive
The suffering hoards of Africa look up to you,
See a black saviour where nought but a Judas strides.
An entrapper of nations, bringer of dismal war
Behind the robes and the nylon wings of hope
Oh, may those who look upon you, see you as you are.
May those who hope in you behold you as you be
A prince deceitful to bring down Africa’s shrines
A siren who leads Africa’s ships onto rocks of obliteration.
Your rule my lord will not be one of peace
Your reign my king will not be one of smiles
Even as we speak in caves both dark and dank
Enraged fanatics plot your dark demise
They will put around your head a bloodwet martyr’s crown.
Oh black Kennedy following the one before
May God forgive thee and thy fiery spouse
As you walk in silence from the stage of life
Barack Obama, blessed son, Oh standing king.
Please Don’t Riot… It’s Just What They Want
As I travel around America it is clear that this country is on the brink of an economic catastrophe the like of which it has never seen. And, of course, it is not alone. A similar story can be told around the world.

The Atrocities Committed Against Women and Girls in the Congo Defy Imagination
Behind the headlines heralding potentially positive developments in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), women and girls continue to be at risk. Media outlets report the arrest of rebel leader General Laurent Nkunda and the possibility of peace openings, but the eastern region where women and girls have been savagely raped and mutilated remains traumatized.
Is the Future Going Down the Drain? Baby Boomers Going Bust
It all happened faster than you can say “senior discount.”
Millions of baby boomers born into the dawn of the most spectacular economic expansion in history are being forced to re-imagine their retirement futures. Few news outlets have failed to seize upon the low-hanging pun: the boomers have gone bust.
The article goes on to talk about the reignition of interest on the part of boomers in intentional communities (aka communes.)
'Lazy Iraqi Police Get Motivational Speech'
Keep your eyes open for the bit about halfway through when the sergeant turns his back and one of the police takes the opportunity to go digging for gold. Priceless. That asshole undermines his credibility with every unnecessary 'fuck' and unenforceable threat, but he's obviously too much of a woman to understand that.
Layla Anwar: That "Oriental thang" ...
Why do Americans say "thang" instead of "thing" ?
Thang or thing, it's all the same... An objectification. A turn him/her into a thing.
I bet you anything if my blog was about "oriental" sex, I would make it to the highest traffic...
Ha!
I am not judging. Far from it. After all, sex is more pleasant than death...
It tintillates, entices, excites, raptures...But Iraq does not. I understand.

Eisenhower's Holocaust - His Slaughter Of 1.7 Million Germans
- "God, I hate the Germans..." (Dwight David Eisenhower in a letter to his wife in September, 1944)
- First, I want you to picture something in your mind. You are a German soldier who survived through the battles of World II. You were not really politically involved, and your parents were also indifferent to politics, but suddenly your education was interrupted and you were drafted into the German army and told where to fight. Now, in the Spring of 1945, you see that your country has been demolished by the Allies, your cities lie in ruins, and half of your family has been killed or is missing. Now, your unit is being surrounded, and it is finally time to surrender. The fact is, there is no other choice.

IMF: Fifth of Britain's GDP spent so far on bailouts
Alistair Darling has already spent almost a fifth of Britain's GDP on bailing out its shattered banking system - more than any other major economy, according to a grave assessment of the world financial crisis published today by the International Monetary Fund.Sure sounds like a lot, but it's nothing compared to the US government's unfunded liabilities exceeding the size of the entire world's economy.

Mind Control Blues
My father returned home today. He was actually released from the hospital a week ago, but my parents used the excuse of the possible existence of black mold under the carpet to justify the cost of renovating the master bedroom to themselves, and he didn't want to come back until the hardwood flooring was down. I won't go into all the sordid details, which aren't really relevant to the topic at hand, except to say that he's making a full recovery from the potentially very lethal illness he'd contracted, a fact that should have made today an even happier day than it already should have been. You'll notice from the way I worded that, that today's homecoming was a less-than-joyful one.
The Near Future
In 1800 in all the world
there were one billion people
in 1950, two billion
now there's six billion
ten billion people by the year 2025
exploding, spurting, surging
tidal wave, earthquake, blink of an eye
how many is too many?....
Chaos, Collapse and Synchronicity
From imploding economies to hurricanes and tsunamis, from astounding corruption to war and terrorism, from catastrophic climate change to thermonuclear weapons in the Middle East, the clichés of doom that lately populate the course of human events is more than enough to tilt a sane citizen into apocalyptic anxiety.
Big Brother Digest - The Fight for Liberty begins... is it too late?
Rather belatedly, citizens of the UK are waking up to the fact that they are under constant surveillance, have lost their privacy, their civil liberties and are now beginning to voice their outrage. 1.1 million children are on a UK DNA database and schools are assisting in softening-up the next generation to accept biometric identity and zero privacy.
